Big Pharma rushes to catch up with off-labeling enthusiasm and re-invigorated placebos

The phenomenon of an inert substance resulting in a patient’s medical improvement is called the placebo effect. The classic use of placebos in medicine—to boost the confidence of anxious patients—has been employed tacitly for ages. New research is showing that the latest generation of of atypical anti-psychotics -the most profitable class of drugs- appear to work no better than placebo.
